Ridge
Players began its theatrical tradition in 1969. The group is
made up of volunteers. These volunteers carry out a number of
duties in addition to performing on stage, including: running
the box office, creating costumes and props, painting scenery,
applying makeup for the shows, setting up the auditorium for
the shows, setting up and running the lighting, advertising,
web site maintenance, providing musical accompaniment, etc.
Every
year, new members join the group but many stay on for several
years. In fact, there are several in the group who have been
members for over 30 years. Ridge Players was incorporated in
1980. The officers include 5 directors, a treasurer and a
secretary.
Until
2019, shows were performed on the stage at the Ridgetown
District High School. The 2023 and 2024 shows were performed
in Erie Street United Church.
